Gnosis by Lesaffre supports the ICHOCM 2017

During the four-day convention, many international experts gave lectures on One Carbon Metabolism and its connection with Folate, SAM-e and Glutathione, in order to share and learn the latest scientific knowledge and experiences.

“Taking science to the next level – challenging paradigms and conventions” was the topic of the conference, a scientific program rich in speeches and researchers from the foremost scientists around the globe.

Gnosis by Lesaffre, as one of the leading companies for innovation in science, had a ringside seat in the focus of the conference thanks to its many products involved in the Methylation Cycle, from Quatrefolic^® the “innovactive” folate, to Adonat^® S-Adenosyl-Methionine to Emothion™ S-Acetyl-Glutathione.

Among others, two special focuses have been devoted to:

1. the role of methyltetrahydrofolate reductase polymorphism (MTHFR) and its incidence in health and disease, including cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disease (Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, Parkinson’s disease), birth defects, and comorbidities associated with obesity;
2. challenges to evaluating evidence of risks from high intakes of folic acid (and “UMFA”, Unmetabolized Folic Acid) including the hypothesis that the increased food allergy prevalence observed in recent years may involve also folic acid through fortification and supplement use.

This is a standing appointment to plunge into the disciplines of biochemistry, genetics and epigenetics, metabolism, nutrition, experimental and clinical medicine, and epidemiology and public health: a great opportunity to support scientific research with the purpose of boosting and enriching medical science.
